THE CONNECTIONS

Here's the cool thing about living in one place for so long: I subbed for the father of one of my best friends from childhood. This man started a children's day camp that I worked at for nine years. He and his wife are both elementary school teachers, and yesterday I got to be with his sweet little fourth graders.

We watched Bill Nye the Science Guy. The students drew me drawings of cars and rockets. They were very talkative. We read Holes, by Loius Sachar.

And now, here are the drawings I received yesterday:

THE BREAK IS OVER

After a beautiful and friend-filled break, I am ready to start subbing again! Monday I will substitute at a Junior High that I have never subbed before. Tuesday and Wednesday I will be at a couple of elementary schools. Keep checking!

THE SECOND GRADERS

Yesterday I substituted for some hellish 2nd graders. These are two separate notes I confiscated from two separate kids:

"Adriana just took u furt"

"Sarina smells like a skunk"

I think the first one is supposed to say "Adriana just took a fart" Boys were writing these and giving them to the girls named in the notes. Sarina does not smell like a skunk, I assure you this. I cannot confirm or deny the first note, however.
